Dallas Cowboys’ star wide receiver Dez Bryant threatened to sit out games in the regular season if he didn’t get his contract extension. Odell Beckham has gained a cult following ever since his breakout last season. Beckham has become one of the NFL’s best wide receivers in a matter of a year. If Beckham keeps it up, he could be demanding a contract very similar to Bryant’s.
By the time Odell Beckham needs a new contract, he may be the NFL’s best wide receiver overall. That means he’s going to want to get paid like one. Beckham will use Bryant’s contract as an example to how much more money that he can get. After all, he may even be better than Bryant. That means he’s going to be asking for more money. And these contracts are only going to get bigger and bigger in the mean time.
We all knew that Bryant was going to get signed, but some Giants fans would hope that the Cowboys would have stalled long enough so Bryant missed some regular season games. That means he would have missed the season opener against the Giants, but that dream fell apart really fast.
Bryant is one of the NFL’s best wide receivers and going up against a very shaky Giants’ secondary will only make him look better. Steve Spagnuolo better figure out a way to shut down Bryant because if he doesn’t it’s going to be a very big issue for him.
