5 things you need to know about Safety Jeromy Miles by Dan Salomone (Giants.com)
"Both Miles and Giants wide receiver Victor Cruz went undrafted in 2010 out of UMass, where the safety earned first-team All-America honors in NCAA Division I-FCS as a senior in 2009. Miles started all 36 games he played in at UMass (2007-09) after transferring from Navy in 2006. Miles’ total college numbers include 294 tackles, nine interceptions, 23 passes defensed and seven forced fumbles in 49 games (47 starts). The Giants now have three former Minutemen on the roster: Miles, Cruz and wide receiver Julian Talley, who went undrafted in 2012."
Sunday mailbag: Expect Shane Vereen to see the field a lot for the Giants by Dan Graziano (ESPN)
"The Giants signed Shane Vereen to augment their running backs corps with a third-down playmaker who could catch the ball out of the backfield and make plays with the ball in his hands. The role offensive coordinator Ben McAdoo has in mind is the one David Wilson was supposed to play last season before neck injuries forced him into early retirement. However, Vereen brings something else in addition to his pass-catching ability on third downs. The Giants also like Vereen as a pass protection running back, which mean they believe he can help their passing game in a variety of ways."
If healthy, would Pierre-Paul had gotten a long-term deal? by Mike Florio (Pro Football Talk NBC Sports)
"But what if Pierre-Paul had been healthy? A five-year, $60 million offer had been on the table, which Pierre-Paul never would have accepted. At $14.813 million for 2015, Pierre-Paul would be eligible for a franchise tag of $17.775 million for 2016. That’s a two-year haul of $32.588 million, an average of nearly $16.3 million."
Dissecting New York Giants’ Best, Worst Positional Units by Kevin Boilard (Bleacher Report)
"Heading into 2015, Donnell is in danger of losing quarterback Eli Manning’s favor. He fumbled four times last season, so Manning may be more likely to trust his receivers and running backs in big spots. Donnell was mum during early offseason workouts, as he spent most of the spring on the sideline nursing Achilles tendinitis in a walking boot."
