When was the last time anyone used the words fantasy football and Eli Manning in the same sentence? Almost never is the correct answer. For years now fantasy football players have shied away from Manning because of his inconsistency. However, now is the time to take a chance on him. Manning is set up to have one of the greatest years of his entire career.
Last year, Manning ranked in the top ten fantasy football quarterbacks. That’s pretty impressive for playing on a team that went 6-10. Manning proved to be a better option than Tom Brady, Drew Brees, Philip Rivers, Cam Newton, Matthew Stafford, and Matt Ryan. Those are some really big names that he jumped ahead of.
Most of his success last season was due to the emergence of wide receiver Odell Beckham. Beckham showed that he will probably be one of the leagues’ best receivers for years to come. In 2015 Manning will have Shane Vereen and Victor Cruz in addition to Beckham. Both will prove to be very valuable to the new West coast style offense.
The recent signing of James Jones also helps Manning’s fantasy value. Jones thrived in the Green Bay Packers’ offense and has nothing but high praise for Ben McAdoo. Jones will definitely find his way into the crowded offense.
If Manning put up the best completion percentage of his career with just one of those listed players, imagine what he could do with all of them. The sky is the limit for Manning and the Giants’ offense.
Personally, I drafted Manning to be the starting quarterback in my own 12-team fantasy football league. I took him over Ben Roethlisberger, Rivers, Stafford, and Ryan. Yes this may be a very bold move, but fantasy championships aren’t won playing it safe. Cash in on Manning while you still can.
