Beating 49ers Is Crucial For Giants
After a rocky 0-2 start, the New York Giants find themselves tied for first place in the NFC East at 2-2 with the Dallas Cowboys and Washington Redskins. This week the Giants will host Colin Kaepernick and the struggling San Francisco 49ers (1-3).
Big Blue knows that they have a perfect opportunity to get a win against a mediocre 49ers team and they will have to because the schedule gets very interesting over the next two weeks. Following this week, the Giants will travel to Philadelphia followed by a home game against the Cowboys.

Everyone knows by know how physical and tight NFC East games are which means that both games can very easily go either way for the Giants. That is why a win versus the 49ers is necessary in order to provide a small cushion should the Giants lose their next two games.
Failure to do so will place the Giants in a very precarious situation that could wind up deciding their entire season. If the Giants were to lose all three upcoming games, their season will surely be over.
Sealing a convincing win against a team that was once atop of the NFL just a short time ago gives the Giants a huge boost of confidence as well as peace of mind heading into two extremely tough division games that could mean big things for Big Blue if they are able to pull off wins in those games.
The Giants must avoid looking past the 49ers who will be desperate for a win just because there are two huge division games on the horizon. The Giants have fallen victim to trap games before, and this game has all the makings to be one of those games if the Giants aren’t focused.
As hard as it may be to not look towards stepping on the throats of their hated division rivals and taking control of a wide open division, the Giants must keep their focus on the 49ers. Taking care of business at home against a struggling team is what great teams do and the Giants will have to accomplish this if they want to take another step towards being contenders.
Yes, the next three weeks will be as big as it gets for Big Blue but before they can set their sights on the big picture, they must handle the task at hand or else that picture will fade very quickly. As long as the Giants play their brand of football at home, they should handle the 49ers and then they can finally start prepping for two of their biggest games of the year.
If they lose focus and suffer what would be a devastating loss that will encompass a season defined by games the Giants let slip away. That is what is at stake this Sunday night and it can all be avoided as long as the Giants focus on executing their game plan and getting a win that could very well put them in first place in the NFC East heading into the Eagles and Cowboys games. It’s time for the Giants to buckle down, stay focused and show what this team is made of.
