After much speculation, the New York Giants revealed the Nike Color Rush jerseys they’ll wear against for their Week 16 match-up at the Philadelphia Eagles.

The Giants Color Rush alternate jerseys have finally been confirmed. The team’s official website posted the news, along with a photo, Tuesday morning, September 13. An ad features Odell Beckham (because…who else?) sporting the uniform, accompanied by the caption “Light Up Thursday Night.”

Big Blue will wear the uniforms when the visit the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 16, at Lincoln Financial Field. The game could have major playoff implications by that point in the season. In addition to the jerseys, the Giants classic “NY” themed helmet will get a fresh makeover. They’ll keep the red stripe down the middle and return to their “GIANTS” logo.

Uniform History

The G-Men haven’t played with their look much over the years, so any alteration at all is a depart from the norm. Even if it’s more of a throwback than a new look. This season’s Giants Color Rush alternate jersey, up to the helmet, was their road uniform for many years before making a change in the 2000 season.

New York has worn some version of their current uniforms ever since. At home it’s been blue jerseys with white numbers, no outline, gray pants and blue socks. In 2013, they added white alternate pants. Away, it has been white jerseys with red numbers, no outline, same gray pants and red socks. They switched the stripe on their pants in the mid 2000’s, going with a thinner, more subtle look. From 2004 to 2007, they wore a pretty awful red alternate jersey at home.

Thankfully, only 76 people were in favor seeing Big Blue return to Big Red. It’s just a little ironic the Giants Color Rush jerseys are mainly white, but they’ll do. Things could always be worse. Check out the Seattle Seahawks Color Rush jerseys, posted today on the Seattle Times. Yikes.
