New York Giants vs. Green Bay Packers: Views From Lombardi Ave

The New York Giants meet the Green Bay Packers this week at Lambeau. We went 1-on-1 with the Packers’ official FanSided site, LombardiAve.com, for analysis from the opposing sideline.

The Green Bay Packers are a perfect 3-0 this season, and coming off a bye week. The New York Giants limp into Lambeau Week 5, under much scrutiny. The two teams are trending in opposite directions.

Aaron Rodgers and company must worry about an upstart Minnesota Vikings team taking the NFL by storm. The Giants must worry about Odell Beckham’s lack of composure, a media feeding frenzy, a sagging offense and winning football games.

We sat down with Josh McPeak of LombardiAve.com to weigh the state of the Packers and find out what concerns they have with Big Blue coming to town.

Q & A with Lombardi Ave

More from NY Giants News

GMenHQ: What concerns Packers fans most about the New York Giants?

Lombardi Ave: The biggest concern of the Packers  is the Giants passing game. Some might think that is outlandish after the Giants performance on Monday night. However, Minnesota has one of the top defenses in the NFL and have been shutting down every star wide receiver. Green Bay will still be without Sam Shields and must rely on a very young secondary.

G: In what aspect of the game do you expect Green Bay to be most successful?

LA: The Packers should be able to shutdown the running game of the Giants. New York has sustained a lot of injuries to the backfield at such an early point in the season. Green Bay is currently enjoying the number one ranking against the run. Unfortunately, it may make the Giants one dimensional which could backfire on the Packers.

G: Who’ll match-up with Odell Beckham Jr.?

LA: For the most part it should be second year corner Damarious Randall. Randall has all of the ability to be a play-maker at the NFL level. He also has the tendency to get blown away at times. The loss of Sam Shields has been huge so far. I’m not looking forward to this match-up.

G: Lastly, how do you see the game playing out?

LA: Mike McCarthy has a great track record following a bye week. However, I think this is a horrible match-up for the Packers right now. The Giants are struggling coming into the game with a .500 record. Both Green Bay and New York have been on the short end of a very good Minnesota defense. Odell Beckham has been very frustrated. I think he unleashes that, and then some this week. Green Bay is 29th in the league giving up 307.3 passing yards per game. Stefon Diggs enjoyed a 9 catch 182 yard performance in week two against the Packers. Marvin Jones Jr. hauled in 6 receptions for 205 yards and 2 touchdowns in week three against the Pack. Another game without Sam Shields makes a young secondary very vulnerable. If you play the daily fantasy draft leagues, it might be a good idea to draft Eli Manning and Odell Beckham this week.
