Sign Kelvin Beachum To A One-Year Prove-It Deal

Coming off a torn ACL in 2015, Kelvin Beachum signed a five year deal worth $45 million with the Jacksonville Jaguars. Beachum played admirably, starting 15 games for Jacksonville, but allowed 27 combined sacks and pressures.

The Jaguars elected not to pick up Beachum’s option, thus making him an unrestricted free agent.

It’s easy to project that Beachum’s best football is still ahead of him, as his ACL injury clearly hampered him last season. That being said, only missing one game in the entire season shows what Beachum is all about.

The reason why I put Beachum at the top of the left tackle priority list is because his price will be lower than Russell Okung or Andrew Whitworth, but his potential is still just as high. Also, the NFL Draft is paper thin when it comes to legitimate offensive tackle prospects.

Ereck Flowers may prove inept on the right side of the line, as well, but it’s a chance the team needs to take. Flowers has been a turnstile his entire career, forcing Eli Manning to panic on nearly every drop back. Continuing to ignore the ineptitude of Flowers would be a disservice to everyone involved.

At age 27, Beachum has “diamond in the rough” appeal.
