All good things must come to an end, and that scenario will play out with the New York Giants and quarterback Eli Manning this season.

Manning was the No. 1 overall draft selection from the 2004 NFL Draft, and he’s played his entire career with the New York Giants. Manning’s game has been in steady decline for the past several years, but many fans didn’t want to acknowledge that fact.

According to OverTheCap.com, the veteran quarterback takes up $22.2 million of Big Blue’s salary cap space this season. Next year, Manning is owed a $5 million bonus on the third day of the league’s new year. Remaining with the New York Giants, Manning will become a $23.2 million salary cap hit for 2019.

The good news is that if Manning is cut, he’ll only account for $6.2 million cap hit and frees up $17.6 million in valuable cap space for the New York Giants. Based on production and those number, it’s easy to see that Manning’s tenure with the New York Giants is coming to an end.

Big Blue eschewed a franchise quarterback in the 2018 NFL Draft, going with Penn State running back Saquon Barkley as the alternative. In a similar draft position, it won’t happen again, unless the G-Men creatively fill the position before the draft.

With that in mind, here are the top 5 contenders to take Manning’s place on the New York Giants in 2019.
