New York Giants missing major offensive firepower against Patriots
Evan Engram (knee)
Out of all the injuries the Giants are currently dealing with, this one snuck-up on fans the most. While there was certainly some chatter early in the week that Engram was dealing with a tweaked knee, Pat Shurmur threw cold water on it when he wrote it off as nothing more than usual game soreness. It turns out that was not the case, as ESPN’s Adam Schefter sent Giants Nation into a tizzy went he reported that Engram was actually dealing with a sprained MCL and was in real jeopardy of missing the week six game.

The Giants confirmed as much today, as the team officially ruled Engram out for the contest. Even with all the other injuries, if Daniel Jones just even had Engram, you could make a real case that he’d at least be able to move the football and have one game-breaker. While it’s fair to wonder if Engram would have been able to suit up in a regular work week, we’ll never get the answer to that question.
The league shows it’s hypocrisy on claiming to care about player safety by forcing team’s to play in these Thursday night games, and there are likely dozens of players over the past few years that have missed games they otherwise would have been able to play in. The team has been predicable mum on the potential severity of the sprain, but it’d be surprising to see Engram miss more than one week of action.
