Ever since the NY Giants resigned former center Jon Halapio to a contract earlier this week, the writing appears to have been on the wall for veteran Spencer Pulley.

Pulley was brought over from the Chargers via waivers after he was one of their final roster cuts heading into the season after starting 16 mediocre games for the team in 2017. Initially brought on to be a backup and for depth purposes, Pulley was thrust into action in Week 5 of the 2018 season for Big Blue and produced more of the same mediocre results.

Over the course of his four-year career, Pulley has yet to accumulate a Pro Football Focus grade of higher than 58 and he’s particularly struggled in the run game. If all things were equal in terms of salary he would have a much better shot at staying with the 2020 NY Giants over Halapio, but Pulley is set to make $2.75M in 2020 after signing a three-year extension with Big Blue in 2019.

However, none of that figure is guaranteed, and with the Giants being hard-pressed for salary cap space (like the rest of the NFL due to the uncertainty of the future due to COVID-19 and no fans), he figures to be first up on the chopping block.
