Round 6 (196th Overall): Pooka Williams, RB, Kansas

The Giants’ signed Devontae Booker to back-up star running-back, Saquon Barkley – but here the team opts to deepen their skill positions even more with the selection of Kansas’ Pooka Williams.

Regarded by some as one of the draft’s biggest sleepers, the speedy Williams showed off his big-play ability on multiple occasions throughout his college career. Shifty as a jitterbug and quick as a hiccup, making defenders miss and flying down the sidelines was a regular occurrence for Williams.

He possesses the innate ability to shoot through the smallest of gaps – reaching the second level and keeping defenders on their toes. Williams also was solid as a pass catcher out of the backfield as well as split out wide, giving the team the flexibility coach Judge covets.

Watching Williams elicits memories of players like Chris Johnson and Alvin Kamara, but his size has been a concern of many. At 175 pounds, experts have questioned whether he’s better off making the switch to receiver permanently, instead of toting the rock for teams.

Nevertheless, Williams’ ability would be another headache for opposing defensive coordinators as they prepare for the Giants.
