Patrick Surtain: Cornerback, Alabama

There have been a lot of moves made by the NY Giants to address their secondary in recent years. They continued that rebuild this offseason with the signing of Adoree’ Jackson and they have continued interest in Jason McCourty.

Despite this flurry of action at the position, they still may not be done upgrading the position.

There have been murmurs and rumblings around the league and many insiders feel that the Giants may surprise many and nab a cornerback in round one. This may disgruntle loyal NY Giants fans as they remember how the Eli Apple and DeAndre Baker disasters went.  However, none of these players apply to Patrick Surtain.

Surtain has an NFL pedigree with his dad shining on the early 2000s Miami Dolphins defense. He is a well-rounded corner who is both physical and fast to the point of contact. The Giants are well-informed on Alabama players thanks to Joe Judge and the coaching staff’s ties to Alabama and the SEC.

Surtain, the reigning SEC Defensive Player of the Year and Unanimous All-American, would solidify the team’s cornerback group to the maximum. Lining up Surtain alongside Adoree’, James Bradberry, and Darnay Holmes would field the Giants’ most talented cornerback room in years.
