The NY Giants Add a Running Back on Day 3.

The NY Giants have some question marks not being talked enough surrounding their running backs.

The team is set to welcome back Saquon Barkley into the mix. Saquon is looking good in his recovery but will need to prove it on the field first before anything else. Behind him, the Giants added Devontae Booker who is a five-year vet who has been more of a 3rd down back than anything else.

Since his rookie season in 2016, Booker hasn’t matched his 612 yards and has only topped 400 yards once, coming in 2020. Booker can’t be relied on to carry the run game if Saquon Barkley goes down again and the Giants need help behind him.

The Giants could stand to add a running back with either of their Round 6 picks. Guys such as Elijah Mitchell from Lousiana, Khalil Herbert from Virginia Tech, or Jaret Patterson from native Buffalo could fit in New York. Any of the three could help the run game and push Booker for playing time. The NY Giants need a backup plan for Saquon and adding a late-round back on Day 3 would be a wise, cheap investment for both now and the future.
