Could the NY Giants pull off a blockbuster trade, to land reigning NFL MVP and disgruntled Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers?

Originally, NY Giants general manager Dave Gettleman shot down any speculation when it came to the NY Giants trading for disgruntled Green Bay Packers star, Aaron Rodgers.

Gettleman put the brakes on before the photoshops of Rodgers in New York could even commence, saying it was ‘none of his business’.

Now, he’s slowly walking back those comments.

When pressed once again about the reigning NFL MVP, Gettleman simply stated that he’s not closing off any avenues as he continues to rebuild his team. He even slipped in a vote of confidence in his quarterback, Daniel Jones.

“You explore everything. We believe in Daniel,” said Gettleman.

While the Giants‘ front office has been adamant in their affirmation of Jones, it would be malpractice to not see if a deal could be struck for Rodgers. Even at 37 years old, he would take the team from a sneaky playoff option to Super Bowl contender.

Rodgers is coming off the best season of his career, where he put up unimaginable numbers. The quarterback threw 48 touchdowns to just 5 interceptions, while posting a QBR of 121.5.

The number one complaint with Jones has been the amount of turnovers the quarterback commits. That’s something that will be eliminated if a trade was swung for the Green Bay signal caller – Rodgers hasn’t thrown over 8 interceptions in a season since 2010.

It may be a pipe dream to imagine Rodgers playing for the Giants next season, but perhaps it’s not as crazy as it sounds. Due to a draft day trade with the Chicago Bears, the team may have enough assets to get a deal done.

Here are 3 trades ideas that could bring Aaron Rodgers to the NY Giants:

Any trade for Rodgers is going to be based around draft assets, and that’s why conversations start with the three first round picks.

Three first round picks would give the Packers the ability to build their team around their second year quarterback, Jordan Love. With a multitude of tremendous options on the offensive side of the ball, the team could accelerate his development.

Sterling Shepard would be a great addition to the Packers’ offense, where he could play the role of the starting slot receiver. Green Bay hasn’t had a player like Shepard since the team released Randall Cobb – he would fit in seamlessly in a receiving corps captained by Davante Adams.

Shepard‘s contract also means he’ll be in Green Bay for the foreseeable future, as the receiver is signed through the 2023 season. Love would have his reliable safety-blanket all through-out his acclimation to the big leagues.
