Aaron Robinson ascends above Darnay Holmes
In the third round of the draft, many expected the Giants to pivot to their offensive line. Instead, they went with a position group that Gettleman hasn’t been weary about addressing – their secondary.
The team selected UCF’s Aaron Robinson – a player who they thought highly enough to trade up for. Now, the Giants will be hoping for big things from the corner.
Robinson has the versatility to play inside or outside, and impressed while blitzing as well in the past. The Giants may have a hidden gem on their hands – if he can learn from players like James Bradberry and Adoree’ Jackson, he could be a force.
The team got solid play out of Darnay Holmes his rookie season, but Robinson may simply be more talented. It’s not a knock on Holmes, but more of a compliment to the Giants’ third round pick.
Nonetheless, Holmes will have a role on the team’s defense – it just may not be as their starting nickel corner with Robinson in the fold.
