Gary Brightwell will score at least two touchdowns this year

After Saquon Barkley went down with a season-ending injury week two, the Giants went looking for answers at the running back position.

Wayne Gallman filled in admirably, while Dion Lewis and Alfred Morris provided a change of pace in the backfield. The team even brought in the best back on the market – giving former Atlanta Falcons’ back, DeVonta Freeman, an opportunity to recapture the magic of his Pro Bowl seasons.

Now, the team has overhauled Barkley’s back-ups. Gallman, Morris and Freeman are gone – instead favoring Devontae Booker, Ryquel Armstead, Corey Clement and sixth round pick, Gary Brightwell.

While Booker, Armstead and Clement have had varying levels of success in the league, Brightwell enters as an unknown entity. While his numbers at the University of Arizona don’t jump off the page, his balance, vision and power could help him surprise people at the next level.

His abilities on special teams is what drew the Giants to Brightwell, but his running ability will help him stick around.

In his surprising comeback tour, Morris scored two touchdowns for the Giants last season – Brightwell will at least match that his rookie season.
