NY Giants rookie wide receiver Kadarius Toney apologized for, and addressed throwing a punch late against the Dallas Cowboys during Sunday’s loss

NY Giants wide receiver Kadarius Toney released a statement publicly apologizing for throwing a punch late during Sunday’s loss to the Dallas Cowboys, which led to his ejection, and earlier apologized to his teammates and head coach Joe Judge.

"“It’s more of a moral thing,” Toney said on a conference call with reporters Monday. “At the end of the day. I know right from wrong. At the end of the day, I know that in this sport, it’s not boxing or hockey or anything else where you can just fight and stuff like that.“At the end of the day, I’ve got to take responsibility for what I did and that’s just what it is. If it was a wrong action, that’s just how I look at it.”"

Fighting is certainly frowned upon in the NFL, but according to multiple reports Toney will not be suspended by the NFL, and from the sounds of it, the Giants will handle any discipline internally.

"“I spoke to Kadarius already,” Judge explained.” I’ve spoken to the team as well. Look, that’s something we’re not going to condone. In terms of any discipline, I keep things in-house, so I’m not going to make any kind of public statements about anything that’s going to be happening in-house. But I spoke to KT. I’m not going to speak for him right now, I know he put something out there already, but I like the way this guy has responded to a lot of things and I’m confident he’s going to respond the right way to this.”"

The NY Giants will likely lean on Toney to take on an expanded role Sunday against the Los Angeles Rams, especially with Kenny Golladay out due to a knee injury.

Toney is coming off the strongest performance of his rookie season, and the NY Giants are banking on him reprising his 10-reception for 189 yard outburst in Sunday’s loss to the Cowboys.
