The NY Giants’ are mercifully approaching the end of yet another disappointing season, a fifth consecutive 10-loss campaign, with major changes ahead

The 2021 season did not go to plan for the NY Giants.

With one game to go, all eyes have shifted to next season. This team is expected to go under a drastic change within the coming months. This roster will be looked at from top to bottom, and there is a good chance that several veteran players will not be returning next season.

While this season has been filled with many lows, there has still been a fair number of things to get excited about. Most notably, there were several young players who proved that they can, and will be a part of this Giants team for a long time. They will serve as building blocks not only next season but for the foreseeable future.

Tackle, Andrew Thomas

After a somewhat lackluster rookie year, tackle Andrew Thomas grew into his own over the course of this season. The former fourth-overall pick played at a level this season that resembled a franchise left tackle.

While the rest of the offensive line has consisted of a revolving door of players, Andrew Thomas has been the one consistent piece. And this consistency has played a massive role in his development towards being a top left tackle.

Through 16 games last season, Thomas allowed 10 sacks and 57 quarterback pressures. Through 12 games of this season, Thomas has allowed just two sacks and 18 quarterback pressures. Pro Football Focus currently gives Thomas a grade of 80.0. This ranks Thomas as the 17th best tackle in football. The only tackle from the 2020 class above Thomas is Tampa Bay Buccaneers tackle Tristan Wirfs.

The difference in level of play has led many people to reevaluate the selection of Thomas that was heavily scrutinized up until this season. Every great team seems to have a foundational talent at left tackle. The Giants may have found their guy in Andrew Thomas.
