Despite a fifth consecutive double-digit loss season, and the New York Giants missing the postseason for the ninth time in the past decade, several young players emerged

The New York Giants’ 2021 season was less than exemplary.

New York finished 4-13, and the season was over before it felt like it ever truly got started. The roster was plagued by injuries and the team as a whole appeared to be unprepared.

Clearly, the recent changes being made in the front office are just the start of turnover for this team and this roster.

With the Giants in search of both a new General Manager and Head Coach, you can hope that the new regime will help fix the problems of the past.

While this season was mainly headlined by disappointment, there were still a few bright spots to be found.

These bright spots were found mainly in the play of several young players. More importantly, these players weren’t heading into the 2021 season with the highest expectations on them yet they still managed to outperform many other players on the roster.

Here are three young New York Giants players who exceed expectations in 2021

New York Giants CB, Aaron Robinson

The New York Giants spent a third-round pick in the 2021 draft on UCF cornerback Aaron Robinson. Robinson was a true lockdown corner during his final two years of college.

Over that time, Robinson recorded 95 tackles, 6.5 tackles for loss, two forced fumbles, and three interceptions.

Robinson was added to a secondary that already consisted of two talented corners in James Bradberry and Adoree’ Jackson. With two veteran players of that caliber and several other seasoned corners ahead of Robinson, many assumed that he would play a minor role throughout this season.

Robinson, unfortunately, missed all of training camp and didn’t make his debut until Week 8. Once Robinson appeared ready to go, he earned a spot in the rotation of the secondary. Over the nine games that he appeared in, he played less than double-digit snaps just four times.

In weeks 13 and 14, when Robinson was put into a starting role, he held his own against talented opposing receivers.

Robinson can be expected to play a much bigger role in 2022, especially if the Giants make the choice to move on from James Bradberry. His play over his rookie season was more than the Giants may have expected. He could be a key piece in this secondary for the near future.
