NY Giants Day 3 Draft Target: Bo Melton, WR, Rutgers

Wide receiver is a serious concern for the Giants entering 2022, as Kadarius Toney, Darius Slayton, Kenny Golladay, and Sterling Shepard all have inconsistent production track records on the field and have all dealt with significant injury concerns as well.

While the Giants’ receiver room is a little full to use any significant draft capital on, they do need some depth. This makes a wide receiver the ideal position to target later in the draft. Melton, a local product out of Rutgers would give significant depth to the Giants wideout group. A five-year player in the Rutgers program, Melton had 2,011 receiving yards in his college career.

While Melton has dealt with some injury issues, he helped transform the Rutgers program from one of the worst in college football to a respectable program that even played number 15 Wake Forest in the 2021 Gator Bowl.

Melton tested great at the 2022 combine, running a 4.34 40-yard dash, 5th among all wideouts, and completed the 3-cone drill in 6.98 seconds, third among all wideouts. His length was also demonstrated as he jumped 38 inches in the vertical jump. A guy with Melton’s speed and athleticism would fit perfectly in Daboll’s offense and help to cover up some of the deficiencies still on the Giants’ offensive roster.
