NY Giants Day 3 Draft Target: Luke Fortner, C, Kentucky

As noted, the Giants need offensive line help. In addition to the five quality starters, they are currently striving for, the franchise also needs quality depth.

Luke Fortner, a 6-foot-6, 300-pound center from Kentucky, could be a quality starter or provide the needed depth. Fortner is very strong in pass protection, allowing just 5 sacks and 22 pressures in his college career that saw him take nearly 2,400 pass-blocking repetitions.

While Fortner is a high character scholar-athlete, he has a certain “chippiness” to him, very Will Hernandez-like. Fortner was ejected from Kentucky’s regular-season finale blowout victory over their rival, Louisville. Every offensive line needs a great pass protector with some spice, and Fortner could fill that role for the Giants.
