The NY Giants are ready to make some serious noise as they head into the 2022 NFL Draft. With nine draft picks in their arsenal including two in Round 1 at No. 5 and No. 7 respectively, they have some great draft capital to select some impact players. The kind of players that can be difference-makers as early as this upcoming season.

At this point in time, plenty of mock drafts have been made all offseason long and once the real draft happens later this week, there is no mistaking that the Giants do have several areas of need to address. Of course, it’s a matter of opinion but the majority would probably agree that the Giants need to select players to bolster their offensive line and add some edge rushers to their defensive line early on in this year’s draft.

These top two positional groups are crucial to not only build a foundation for a better future but just to flat out win more football games. It’s no secret that in order to win more football games, it all comes down to the battle of the trenches. If you have a great offensive line to keep your quarterback healthy and able to do what he does best, you’ll be in a better position to win.

The NY Giants need to draft a top offensive lineman and an edge rusher

If you have a great defensive line that can consistently rush opposing quarterbacks, you’ll also be in a better position to win. It all comes down to protecting your quarterback and getting to the other team’s quarterback. Do both consistently week in, week out, and you’ll start to see more wins in your column, motivated football players, and plenty of fans with smiles on their faces from ear to ear.

In a perfect world, the Giants should draft the best available offensive tackle at No. 5 and the best available edge rusher at No. 7. If this is what ultimately transpires after Day 1 is in the books, the Giants will instantly be better on paper, and then it’s just a matter of improving other aspects of the roster in Days 2 and 3.

At the end of the day, the Giants can’t afford to mess up this golden opportunity of having two first-round picks in the top 10 of the draft order. Who knows when this will ever happen again in the future but if they can leave this year’s draft with a premier offensive tackle and an incredible edge rusher, it won’t be long before the Giants are contenders again.
