As the NY Giants prepare for Day 2 of the 2022 NFL Draft, all eyes will be on what new general manager Joe Schoen will do in Rounds 2 & 3. These are the rounds where you can still find premium talent that fell from Round 1. The Giants can easily add even more impact players to the mix if everything falls according to plan.

The Giants at the time of this writing have three draft picks to work with for both rounds tonight. They have the No. 36 pick in Round 2 and then two picks in Round 3 at No. 67 and No. 81. It remains to be seen if Schoen will make any interesting trades since Round 1 felt like it had set an NFL record for most trades ever. That might very well continue tonight as teams adjust their draft boards.

At this point in time, the Giants still have some areas to address as they did an amazing job in Round 1 by drafting impact players for both their offensive and defensive lines. Defensive end Kayvon Thibodeaux and offensive tackle Evan Neal are going to look great in Giants uniforms but make no mistake about it, there is still a lot of work left to be done heading into Day 2.

NY Giants will draft a new TE, WR, and OG on Day 2 of the 2022 NFL Draft

If I had to make three bold predictions for what awaits tonight for Big Blue, it would be…

  • Draft a top tight end
  • Draft a solid wide receiver
  • Draft the best available offensive guard

Oh yes, ladies and gentlemen, tonight will be a night of focusing on the Giants’ offense. It’s no secret that their offense as a whole leaves much to the imagination as they have had lots of inconsistency over the past few years. From an abysmal offensive line, lack of offensive weapons, and a huge question mark at tight end, the Giants can fix all that with their selections tonight.

Believe it or not, tight end Trey McBride is still available for the taking as he would be a perfect addition on offense. If he’s still available when the Giants are on the clock with the No. 36 overall pick, it’s a no-brainer to draft him immediately and not even think twice about it.

Besides McBride, the Giants should then take the best available wide receiver at No. 67 and then the best available offensive guard at No. 81. Of course, there’s also a very good chance Schoen might make some trades to actually move down the NFL Draft order to secure more picks to continue building out a roster that is in dire need of more talent.

Either way, the Giants definitely need to bolster these positional groups tonight so they can bounce back as early as next season. If the Giants can score big on Day 2, they will easily be a force to reckon with to the point where it will usher in a brand new era of successful and competitive football for many years to come.
