After thinking about Day 2 of the 2022 NFL Draft and the selections the NY Giants have made, it’s a weird situation. Having slept on it, it’s still perplexing that the Giants took fans on such an emotional rollercoaster in a span of just 24 hours. Day 1 was such a fun, amazing, and awesome time to see the Giants pick Kayvon Thibodeaux and Evan Neal. Day 2? Not so much.

The oddest pick was wide receiver Wan’Dale Robinson out of Kentucky. He’s a short, speedy, and decent wide receiver but for the No. 43 overall pick, so many other higher-rated players were available for the taking. The Giants could have added a premier tight end or even the best available linebacker but chose to go with Robinson. It just doesn’t make sense and hopefully, it does in the future.

The Joshua Ezeudu selection with the No. 67 overall pick was a decent one since the Giants needed to add more pieces to their struggling offensive line. He’s a moldable player and with the right coaching, can easily be a starter within two years tops. It’s great that he’s versatile and can play guard or tackle.

NY Giants earn a “C” draft grade for their Day 3 picks in 2022 NFL Draft

The only other pick the Giants made on Day 3 was at No. 81 with cornerback Cordale Flott who is another developmental player that the Giants will need to be patient with as he gets used to life in the NFL. This was another head-scratching pick since, again, better cornerbacks were available that had much more upside than Flott.

At the end of the day, it’s important to remember that obviously, professional scouts and general manager Joe Schoen will know much more than anyone else. Perhaps they see attributes and specific traits that will pan out nicely for the Giants over the long term. If not, it’ll be back to the drawing board for the Giants and nobody wants to see that, especially after a 4-13 season.

Taking everything into consideration about Day 3, the Giants have earned a “C” grade for their three selections. They’re not terrible but they’re not great either since they might not be starting material this upcoming season but will need time and patience to perhaps get there in 2023 and beyond.

For a team that is in dire need to return to their winning ways after the past few years of unfortunately having failure, Day 2 could have been as glorious as Day 1 but it is what it is. Hopefully, Day 3 will be better and make fans as happy as Day 1, otherwise, it’s going to be longer than expected before the Giants return back to their winning ways again.
