2. Kentucky S Yusuf Corker

Kentucky’s Yusuf Corker is listed as a safety, but he also has experience playing cornerback – two key positions of need on this Giants roster. Corker presents, in our opinion, one of the best options for an UDFA to make this Giants 2022 roster.

It was somewhat of a surprise to not hear his name called during the draft. He was ranked in the top 200 prospects by many, including PFF who had him as the 185th ranked prospect ahead of the draft. The Giants should be thrilled to land the talented defensive back on a UDFA contract and he has a real chance to land a roster spot in 2022.

Corker saw impressive production in the SEC, finishing 2021 with 82 tackles, including 3.5 for loss, and eight pass breakups for the  Wildcats. He had quality starts against top talent in the conference, including an impressive display against the eventual national champion Georgia Bulldogs.

Corker is certainly a willing tackler, often resulting in big hits as he runs downhill at ball carriers. He does have an issue with missed tackles – a result of his desire to deliver big hits sometimes getting the better of him. If he can improve on this, he should be able to contribute at least on special teams, with the ability to earn reps in this Wink Martindale defense.

The positions Corker can contribute to line up perfectly with a desperate need for this Giants roster. With 2021 starters Jabrill Peppers, Logan Ryan and James Bradberry all no longer on the roster, the whole secondary is in need of talented pieces. He is certainly a name to keep an eye on during the offseason programs for New York.
