The 2022 NFL trade deadline has come and gone, with Jerry Jeudy not needing to pack his bags for East Rutherford: he won’t be playing for the NY Giants after all. Over the last few weeks, there had been plenty of speculation that general manager Joe Schoen would try and work his magic to bring in the Denver speedster, but nothing went down.
According to NFL insider Benjamin Allbright, the Broncos were looking to receive a second-round pick and a fifth-round pick in exchange for the former first-rounder. With how much Schoen values draft capital, it makes sense that he didn’t want to send the Broncos what they wanted. Fans are split on this, but we think it was the right call.

This would have been a bit of a gamble for the Giants, but it’s clear that Schoen is betting big on the future of this team and he didn’t want to send that kind of a package to the Broncos. Not only that, but plenty of eyebrows were raised on Tuesday when the Chicago Bears sent a second-round pick to the Pittsburgh Steelers in exchange for wideout Chase Claypool.
The Giants had also been mentioned as a possible destination for Claypool, but come on, a second-round pick for him? Thankfully Schoen stayed away from that one. The thought of Jeudy or Claypool catching balls from Daniel Jones was nice, but the Giants and Schoen were never going to overpay for these two.
This team has managed to go 6-2 through the first eight weeks of the campaign with no big names stepping up for Jones, and it looks like Brian Daboll will need to rely on under-the-radar receivers to make plays.
Luckily for this offense, Kenny Golladay will be back from his injury come Week 10. Now more than ever, the G-Men need him to deliver.
