The New York Giants are quickly approaching the start of training camp. For the most part, the roster is already set. The G-Men have relatively few open position battles for a team in the middle of a rebuild. But the edge of the roster still provides plenty of intrigue.

Multiple players will compete for limited roster spots in training camp. John Harbaugh and his staff will have tough decisions to make as they whittle the current 90-man squad down to the final 53.

These four players aren't making headlines this offseason, but they could surprise fans by making the final roster.

These 4 New York Giants players could be surprise roster inclusions

RB Damon Bankston

Behind Cam Skattebo and Tyrone Tracy, the Giants' running back room is wide open. Devin Singletary isn't the reliable back he once was, and Eric Gray has been mediocre so far, leaving a chance for an undrafted rookie like Bankston to climb up the depth chart.

Bankston is more than just a running back. He was a dangerous receiving threat in college and scored two touchdowns as a kick returner in his final collegiate season.

WR Jalin Hyatt

Yep, we're talking about the Jalin Hyatt who has significantly fallen short of expectations through the first three years of his career. He's been unable to translate his track speed into on-field production, pushing him to the edge of the Giants' roster.

But we're not giving up just yet. Under a new coaching staff, Hyatt has one final chance to prove his worth in New York. Matt Nagy resurrected the career of Kansas City Chiefs receiver Tyquan Thornton, another speedster with underwhelming results. Can he do the same with Hyatt?

EDGE Caleb Murphy

While the Giants' edge rushers are the strongest position group on the roster, there isn't much depth. Behind Brian Burns, Abdul Carter, and Kayvon Thibodeaux, there's no proven talent to be found. Khalid Kareem is expected to make the roster, but Murphy and Trace Ford will compete to steal his spot.

LB Cam Jones

Jones is currently New York's seventh off-ball linebacker. He's got an uphill climb ahead of him, but his chances to make the roster are still very real. Darius Muasau and Zaire Barnes were both clear weak links for the Giants last season.

While he's primarily been a special teams contributor through the first three years of his career, Jones has a chance to do more with the Giants.
