5 bold predictions for the Giants-Bengals Sunday Night Football showdown
Coming off the heels of an exciting win against the Seahawks in Week 5, the NY Giants enter Week 6 in high hopes of hitting 3-3 on the season. Next up is a meeting against the Bengals. This won't be an easy game, as despite their 1-4 record, the Bengals are certainly a competent football team.
Despite this, we still have high hopes that the Giants can show out on Sunday night and deliver a huge win that will give them the momentum they need for the remainder of the season. A win of this caliber, even with the Bengals' slow start, could potentially save the campaign as they enter an easier stretch of their schedule.
In the spirit of optimism, we've come up with five bold predictions for this matchup that, if they happen, could turn the tide in the favor of New York. Hopefully, they come true and we see Brian Daboll and company come out with a statement victory:
Here are 5 bold predictions for the Giants-Bengals Sunday Night Football showdown
5. The Giants run for over 200 yards on the ground
The NY Giants have had an inconsistent run game this season. However, following Tyrone Tracy's breakout performance against the Seahawks, alongside the potential return of Devin Singletary, we're rather confident that they can dominate on the ground against the Bengals, who have allowed the third most rushing yards in the NFL. Hopefully, the interior offensive line can continue to provide a strong presence for the team's talented backs.
4. Deonte Banks gets his first interception of the season
Deonte Banks silenced his haters with a great showing against the Seahawks, which came after two rough back-to-back weeks. As solid as he was vs. Seattle, we would love to see him bring in his first interception of the year. Lucky for him, Joe Burrow has thrown one in each of his last two games. With the pressure that will come from the Giants' front five, it feels prone that Burrow will make another mistake that will set Banks up big time to make a game-changing play.
3. Dexter Lawrence has another multi-sack game
Last week, we saw Dexter Lawrence continue to establish himself as the most dominant defensive player in the NFL, racking up three sacks against the Seahawks. Now, facing a solid, but not great Bengals interior offensive line, we're confident that Lawrence can continue his dominance and potentially earn his spot as the NFL's sack leader. Another 2-3 sacks on the way? Lock it in.
2. Daniel Jones throws for 3+ touchdowns
The Bengals have allowed the fourth-most passing touchdowns in the NFL through five weeks and with the way Daniel Jones has been dealing recently, it really feels like he's due for his first 3+ touchdown game since 2019. Yes, that's right, Jones has not thrown three or more touchdowns in a game since his rookie season. Despite this, with Malik Nabers coming back against a weak Bengals defense, we think Jones can get the job done with a career game.
1. The NY Giants win by double digits
The Bengals are loaded with talent, don't get me wrong. However, the Giants offense has finally been clicking in recent weeks, and this, combined with the plays the defense has been making, has us really confident in New York turning their season around this week. These predictions may be asking for a lot, but if the Giants want to establish themselves as a real contender in the NFC East, this is a game they have to win - and they'll do so by at least 10 points.
