The New York Giants fanbase was hit with a major punch in the pace on Monday afternoon, as All-Pro defensive tackle Dexter Lawrence has requested a trade. After years of losing, Lawrence, who has two years left on his deal, may not want to stick around and work with John Harbaugh.

Lawrence may be coming off a down season, and there are some concerns about how well his game is going to age, but it's hard to look at his total body of work and not conside rhim as someone who can immediately change the scope of a defense.

These five teams need defensive tackle help, and all of them might be willing to give the Giants a genuine haul of picks that could give them tons of ammunition for the future.

5 teams who could trade for New York Giants star DT Dexter Lawrence

5. Chicago Bears

The Bears have some extra NFL Draft picks to play with thanks to the DJ Moore trade, and their need for defensive line talent has evolved from serious to critical. Lawrence instantly solves that problem thanks to his utterly unique blend of run-stuffing and disrpution.

4. Jacksonville Jaguars

The Jags are only year removed from the Travis Hunter trade, which shows that Les Snead disciple James Gladstone is a very aggressive general manager. The Jaguars have some extra Day 2 picks this year, and some 2027 capital might be enough to get a deal done.

3. Kansas City Chiefs

Not only do the Chiefs need a defensive tackle after Omarr Norman-Lott failed to impress as a rookie amid Chris Jones' slight decline, but adding Lawrence to the mix could give Kansas City an eventual long-term successor to Jones as they try to reinvent their roster and get a bit younger.

2. Los Angeles Chargers

Rather than using a pick in the Draft to add another defensive lineman to the mix, LA might be better off going all-in on Justin Herbert in his prime and building him a nasty defense with Lawrence at the center. The impact he could have on the defense could make up for the loss of coordinator Jesse Minter.

1. Houston Texans

The one weak spot on an otherwise loaded Houston defense is the defensive tackle room. Adding Lawrence to an elite defense that already has Danielle Hunter and Will Anderson Jr. on it might make for the best defensive line in years, and the Texans could send the Giants a haul in exchange.
