The New York Giants are exhausting every possible option in their ever-disappointing quarterbacksearch , and that apparently includes Aaron Rodgers. Yes, Aaron Rodgers—the oldest player in the NFL who turns 42 in December, missed practically all of 2023 with a torn Achilles, and looked thoroughly washed in his short-lived return with the Jets last season.
Somehow, despite those glaring red flags, the Giants are rumored to be at least considering bringing him in. And if that sounds crazy, just wait until you hear what Rodgers' former teammate James Jones had to say about it. Appearing on FS1’s The Facility, Jones made it very clear he wants no part of seeing Rodgers with Big Blue.
“I do not want to see my dawg go to the Giants,” Jones said. “I don’t know what my dawg’s plans are, how many more years he wants to play, what his goal is, or what he wants to accomplish going into the season. I don't know. The New York Giants, in my humble opinion, are not a contender.”

Is James Jones doing the Giants a favor?
To be fair, Jones isn’t exactly wrong. The Giants are not a contender right now. Far from it. They just went 3-14, have no quarterback, have holes all over the roster, and are clearly in the middle of a rebuild. Jones thinks Rodgers should only go to teams that are “a quarterback away,” like the Minnesota Vikings or Pittsburgh Steelers. While that’s debatable in and of itself, it’s clear he sees New York as a disaster not worth Rodgers’ time.
That should be an insult to Giants fans, but honestly? If it convinces Rodgers to steer clear of East Rutherford, maybe it’s more of a blessing than a curse. The Giants already had a front-row seat to his train wreck of a tenure with the Jets—what did they see that made them want to hop aboard? Rodgers' stats look good on paper, but he was objectively bad last year.
Still, the Giants are desperate. Desperation brings out a different animal from inside. After missing out on Matthew Stafford, they’re still working the phones with the Tennessee Titans about trading up for the No. 1 overall pick. If that doesn’t work out, what’s left? Sam Darnold? Russell Wilson? Justin Fields? Rodgers? None of those options feel great, but general manager Joe Schoen and head coach Brian Daboll are clearly willing to do whatever it takes to stop the bleeding. Screams Band-Aid fixes...
The idea of Rodgers coming to the Giants is interesting. It’s also probably unnecessary. But if Schoen and Daboll are seriously considering it, Jones’ words should be taken as a reality check. If Rodgers’ own guy doesn’t think the G-Men are worth his time, maybe New York should realize he isn’t worth theirs either.
