Bill Belichick slams the NY Giants over Saquon Barkley mistake after Week 7 loss

Yup, things are getting worse for the G-Men.

The hangover from the NY Giants losing to the Philadelphia Eagles has to be one of the worst ones this team has suffered in quite some time. The Giants were torched in the Week 7 contest, barely putting up a fight in a 28-3 loss. There are no excuses for this team anymore.

What made things worse was the fact that veteran running back Saquon Barkley, who spent six years with the G-Men, was unreal in the Philly victory. The former first-round pick rushed for 176 yards and a touchdown, sticking it to his former team.

Everyone laughed at the Giants on Sunday, but now Bill Belichick is here to call them out as well. While appearing on The Pat McAfee Show, the future Hall of Famer didn't mince words talking about the state of the G-Men, while also having no issues going after Joe Schoen for letting Barkley walk:

"The Giants thing I don't really understand. He (Barkley) was their best player. For a couple million dollars more, they could have kept him. Instead they got a guard or somebody I don't know - the offensive line doesn't look very good. "

Throughout the offseason, it became clear that Schoen was never going to give Barkley the kind of money he was hoping for. The Eagles put $37.75 million on the table and it was too much for the Giants to match, which opened the door for No. 26 to join a rival.

John Mara said he was going to have trouble sleeping at night seeing Barkley leave for the Eagles. How do we think he feels now after seeing Saquon light up his defense in a lopsided win for the guys in green? Schoen must be embarrassed too, as Barkley went out to prove and point and he did just that.

Schoen and Brian Daboll were supposedly working overtime to improve the team in the offseason, but the same issues have been on full display through seven games. With Andrew Thomas injured, Joshua Ezeudu is the new starting left tackle and he has no business being out on the field. He has proven time and time again he can't get the job done, which Belichick also pointed out.

The Giants are looking like a laughingstock, which is a damn shame. This is Year 3 of the Daboll-Schoen era and after the memorable first season, everything has gone downhill. Whenever Belichick speaks, fans should listen, but he has nothing good to say about the Giants in 2024.
