Brian Burns' two-word postgame comment has Giants fans bracing for disaster

Not again.

Through 15 weeks of the season, the New York Giants are tied for the worst record in the NFL as they're sitting at 2-12. They've lost eight consecutive games and have managed to weather the storm through a merry-go-round of turmoil this season, with both Brian Daboll and Mike Kafka at the helm.

The Giants' 29-21 loss to the Commanders saw the Giants mount a valiant comeback attempt, but two Younghoe Koo missed field goals turned out to be costly, which didn't stop Big Blue from displaying the resilience fans have waited all year to see, forcing two fourth-quarter turnovers despite another Jaxson Dart injury scare.

After the game, when Brian Burns was asked about the fight this team possesses, his answer was short but incredibly telling. The veteran pass-rusher confirmed that regardless of their record or the situation in the game, the Giants will "for sure" continue to fight until the clock hits triple zeroes.

Brian Burns confirms Giants' resilience won't change anytime soon

If the season ended now, the G-Men would pick first in the 2026 NFL Draft, which was a similar situation to where this team found themselves at this point last season. In all likelihood, the week 17 matchup between the Giants and Raiders will likely decide who possesses the top pick this April.

Last year, a meaningless victory over the Colts in Week 17 saw New York drop out of the No. 1 pick, which could happen again this season if Burns' message is true. It's encouraging to know this team won't give up while Kafka's coaching for his job, especially since outright tanking is bad for the league.

Something worth noting about that renewed sense of fight is the fact that the Florida State product recovered the first of two Washington fumbles. All season long, he has set the tone amid the adversity this defense faced, which means that his words have to count for something despite a rough outing.

Unfortunately. Abdul Carter's career game saw the 27-year-old be held sack-less for the third consecutive game, as he hasn't recorded a sack since the Week 11 loss to the Packers. The Pro Bowl EDGE rusher still ranks second in the NFL in sacks this season, but the lack of recent production is alarming.

No fan should ever want to see their team actually give up on the season, no matter how bad things get, but there's a clear risk for the Giants going forward.
