Brian Daboll clearly isn't done poaching Giants yet with under-the-radar deal

Nobody has rained on the New York Giants' parade in free agency more than Brian Daboll has. I don't know if he was salty because he was fired and he has a vendetta, or he just really loved his roster, because the sheer number of former Giants' Daboll and the Tennessee Titans signed is just insane.

The Titans overpaid for Daniel Bellinger, Cor'Dale Flott, and WanDale Robinson, yet Daboll wanted to throw away more money on ex-Giants. You may as well call them the Tennessee Giants now, as Jeremy Fowler reported that the Titans agreed to terms on a two-year, $9 million deal with Austin Schlottmann.

Schlottmann was the backup center (and brief starting center) alongside John Michael Schmitz the last two seasons, but I guess Daboll and Carmen Bricillo liked him enough to bring him with them to Nashville, but I don't know if that's the greatest benchmark, given their offseason signings to date.

The Titans are signing another notable Giant in C Austin Schlottmann

Let's get this straight. The 50-year-old brought Bricillo and Shea Tierney with him to the Music City, and has signed four-ex Giants? Did he not watch this team after they fired him after the Bears game? Because it really doesn't look like it, the only difference is he has Cam Ward instead of Jaxson Dart.

But beyond all of my many Daboll jokes (I'll be here all day, ladies and gents), this is a fine move. The Titans need to build up their offensive line so Ward avoids any injury setbacks, so at the very worst, Schlottmann will likely slot in as their immediate starting center.

Assuming the Titans are able to bring back another Giants legend in Kevin Zeitler, they actually have a pretty solid unit for Bricillo to work with. There was more talent on there than they get credit for, and the scheme change will work if Bricillo's work in both Las Vegas and New York counts for anything.

As far as Schlottmann goes, Daboll can't poach Schmitz for another offseason, so for now, the 30-year-old will have to do. He is one massive human at 6-foot-6 and 300 pounds, and he was quietly one of the better parts of New York's offensive line in 2025, even though he was never coming back.

According to Pro Football Focus, Schlottmann's 70.8 PFF grade ranked 10th among all centers, but his 77.0 pass blocking grade saw him grade in at fourth out of 40 qualified centers. That's more than not shabby, that's genuinely good, but the Giants needed to improve the OL regardless of this result.
