Brian Daboll's recent comments could spell the end of the Daniel Jones era for Giants
The New York Giants are 2-8 and the season is lost. This team is not good enough to bounce back and make any kind of run at the playoffs and it's looking as though the Giants are once again heading toward a rebuild in the offseason.
Following their overtime loss to the lowly Carolina Panthers in Germany in Week 10, Giants head coach Brian Daboll didn't commit to Daniel Jones continuing to be the starter moving forward. The Giants have a bye in Week 11 but Daboll said that he'd evaluate things at the quarterback position during the week off.

Giants fans wouldn't be the least bit upset if Daboll and the coaching staff decided to sit Jones. In fact, it'd be a smart decision for the team. The season is not going anywhere and Jones has an injury guarantee in his contract. If he gets injured, the Giants have to pay him $23 million in 2025 if he can't pass a physical in the offseason. With the season officially a wash, the Giants shouldn't continue playing Jones so it's good that the coaching staff is evaluating their options.
The options behind Jones are either former Drew Lock or Tommy DeVito, neither of whom are the long-term answer but at least could prevent the Giants from having to pay Jones a lot of money should he get hurt.

Brian Daboll and Giants coaching staff aren't committing to Daniel Jones
Lock was a second-round pick by the Broncos in 2019 and was a part of the Russell Wilson trade in 2022. He's started 23 games and thrown for 28 touchdowns and 23 interceptions. He's thrown eight passes in a Giants uniform, completing three of them for six yards.
DeVito went undrafted last year out of Illinois and ended up starting six games for the Giants in 2023. He went 3-3 and threw for eight touchdowns and three interceptions. DeVito isn't the answer by any means but having him as a potential backup/emergency third-stringer isn't a terrible move.
Back to Jones, it's crystal clear that the Giants made a mistake signing him to that ridiculous contract but there's nothing the team can do about that now. The team will likely be undergoing yet another rebuild in the offseason and hopefully, they can get it right at both the head coach and quarterback spot.
