Entering the new campaign, NY Giants quarterback Daniel Jones probably knew he had to play close to perfect to extend his time with the G-Men. With so much speculation that the Giants will cut him next offseason, the former first-round pick simply had to up his game to prove he can lead this team to where they want to be.

Following the loss to the Eagles, though, Jones is proving that he isn't the guy. Things are a mess for New York, as they're 2-5 on the campaign and fans are already looking forward to the 2025 NFL Draft. In the loss to Philly in Week 7, Jones looked rough, throwing for only 99 yards.

Things reached a low for him too, as Brian Daboll benched him early on in the fourth quarter to see if Drew Lock could create a spark for the offense. After the game, Jones was understandably a bit frustrated with how things went down too:

Daniel Jones was not happy with being benched in the loss to the Eagles

"I was frustrated. I want to be out there, I want to be playing with my teammates and trying to score points. Yeah, I was frustrated and yeah, didn’t like it obviously."

Jones adding, "It's his (Daboll) team. It's up to him to make those decision" spoke to how upset he was with the call. What made things even more confusing is that Daboll didn't waste any time in saying that Jones will be his starter for the Week 8 matchup on the road against Pittsburgh.

So, Lock was just sent in to mix things up? Got it. The fact of the matter here, however, is that Jones has looked terrible over the past two games at home. In the win on the road against Seattle, he was throwing the ball all over the field and powered Big Blue to a memorable win.

That victory came with Malik Nabers out due to the concussion he suffered the week before. Nabers was back to take on the Eagles, but he finished with a season-low four receptions for 41 yards. Even Nabers was a bit upset with Jones not getting him the ball at MetLife vs. Philly.

Any loss is troublesome for a team, but things are going to be magnified for the Giants when it's against the Eagles. Saquon Barkley rushing for 176 yards and a touchdown didn't help things either. With Jones and NY at 2-5 on the year, the campaign feels lost already.

Barring a late change or miracle, Jones is going to get released next offseason and he'll have to find a new place to call home. Daboll has already benched him once. It's not going to be a surprise for that to happen again soon, maybe even as early as midway through the action against the Steelers next Monday night.
