The New York Giants are right back in familiar, frustrating territory, sitting at 2-8 in a season loaded with letdowns. After last year’s failure to build momentum, Big Blue is looking at another likely offseason overhaul.

Head coach Brian Daboll and GM Joe Schoen, once seen as potential saviors, just haven’t been able to field a competitive roster or develop players effectively. Meanwhile, Daniel Jones, despite his big contract, hasn’t come close to delivering the franchise-level play the Giants were banking on.

With the team in free fall, fans are already looking ahead to the draft as a possible way out of this mess. But Deion Sanders’ recent comments about being selective with NFL destinations for his star players, quarterback Shedeur Sanders and two-way talent Travis Hunter, raise a big question: would Sanders even want his son or Hunter joining a team in this much disarray?

Given the Giants’ dysfunction and lack of progress, they might be exactly the kind of franchise Coach Prime wants his players to avoid.

Are the NY Giants on Deion Sanders' list of teams to avoid?

When asked about his son Shedeur’s potential NFL destination, Deion Sanders made it clear that he’d step in if he felt it wasn’t the right fit:

"Somebody that can handle the quarterback that he is. Somebody that can handle understanding what he's capable of," Sanders said. "Someone who has had success in the past handling quarterbacks or someone in an organization that understands what they're doing, not just throwing you out there amongst the wolves."

With the Giants currently projected to pick second overall in the 2025 draft, things are looking dicey for New York fans who hoped for a true franchise reset.

Shedeur Sanders has cemented himself as one of college football’s best quarterbacks, while Travis Hunter is expected to be a top first-round pick. The comments from Deion make it clear he wants his players to land in stable, well-run organizations.

It's a description that doesn’t exactly scream “Giants” right now.

New York’s situation doesn’t exactly scream “stable.” Daboll’s offensive game plans have stalled, Joe Schoen’s roster decisions have been shaky, and the Giants’ recent history with draft picks and player development has been iffy at best. Fans know the team lacks that “infrastructure” Deion was talking about when he described the right place for Shedeur. And with the front office failing to build a consistent foundation, it’s hard to imagine a top talent thriving in the current environment.

New York could be sitting pretty in position to grab Shedeur, but they might be facing resistance from Coach Prime. Think back to Archie Manning pushing to get Eli out of San Diego to come to NY; Deion might be in a similar spot, doing what he can to keep Shedeur and Hunter away from a franchise he doesn’t trust to develop them.

For a team in desperate need of a fresh start and a franchise-changing talent, this would be a gut punch. The Giants have been struggling to build stability, and losing out on players like Shedeur Sanders or Travis Hunter due to the team’s dysfunction would be a major setback.
