Is Devin Singletary playing today? Latest injury updates on veteran Giants RB
UPDATE: Singletary is officially out for this contest due to his groin injury. This now marks the second consecutive week where the Giants offense will be without both Malik Nabers and Singletary. It will be the Tyrone Tracy Jr. game again for the G-Men running game.
Will NY Giants running back Devin Singletary be able to play against the Cincinnati Bengals in primetime? That's a question plenty of fans have on their minds, while loads of fantasy football participants are following things closely too.
Singletary, who signed a three-year contract with the Giants this past offseason, was forced to miss the Week 5 showdown against the Seahawks due to a groin issue. The G-Men and Brian Daboll were hoping to get No. 26 back on the field, but that won't be the case.
On the final Big Blue injury report leading up to SNF, Singletary was listed as questionable due to his groin injury. We already know Daboll will be without Malik Nabers for the second consecutive game, as the No. 6 overall pick has already been ruled out due to the concussion he suffered in Week 4 against the Cowboys. Now, we know Singletary will also be out, meaning a rookie speedster will be the team's starting RB vs. Cincy:
Tyrone Tracy Jr. will start for the NY Giants with Devin Singletary ruled out
Now that we know Singletary won't be able to put the pads on, Tyrone Tracy Jr. will be the featured back. That was the case in the upset win over the Seahawks and things couldn't have gone better for the fifth-round pick in that matchup.
Tracy carried the ball 18 times for 129 yards. He ran with passion and he looked quite explosive with the ball in his hands. Second-year RB Eric Gray will surely be involved too, but turnovers have been an issue for him in '24 - he lost a fumble against the Browns on a kickoff return and he had a fumble vs. Seattle taken back 101 yards for a touchdown.
Daboll has a pretty easy decision to make now that Singletary can't play, and that's to feed Tracy early and often. Tracy is going to get a ton of work in against a poor Cincinnati defense. We'll see how the first-year RB is able to do in his second straight game getting the bulk of the NY carries.
