Is it time for Brian Daboll to ride the hot hand?

There were so many storylines from the NY Giants Week 5 win on the road against the Seahawks. In head-turning fashion, the Giants stunned the NFC West side. On offense, Daniel Jones and Darius Slayton stole the show, looking sharp throughout. You know who else looked fantastic? Rookie running back Tyrone Tracy Jr.

With Devin Singletary out due to a groin injury, Tracy was the featured back in Week 5. Eric Gray was getting plenty of work early on, but his fumble at the goalline was brutal and Brian Daboll decided to give his rookie speedster extra work. That decision paid off in a big way.

We don't want to hype up Tracy too much, but he was sensational. He ran with passion and he battled his way for extra yards. In the end, he tallied 129 yards on 18 carries, good enough for more than seven yards per touch. The question begs, should Tracy take over as RB1 even with Singletary expected to be back for SNF in Week 6 against the Bengals?

Tyrone Tracy Jr. needs to keep getting a ton of snaps for the Giants offense

The Giants signed Singletary this offseason to help fill the void of Saquon Barkley leaving to ink with the Eagles. Singletary has impressed at times, but being careless with the football has been disappointing - he has two lost fumbles to his name in 2024.

In the Week 4 loss to the Dallas Cowboys, the ground game was a nightmare as a whole and nothing was working. Singletary received 14 carries on the night, posting 24 yards. That's never going to cut it, especially in an NFC East rivalry game.

Tracy has a different way of attacking holes when the ball is in his hands. He's far more explosive too, which is an advantage to having him on the field over Singletary. At minimum, we should see Tracy getting way more involved in the run game moving forward.

Prior to his breakout showing against the Seahawks, he had rushed the ball just 12 times for 29 yards. We've seen what he can do carrying the load as go-to RB. Now, we need to see more of it for the rest of the season, especially against the Bengals in Week 6.
