If it feels like the New York Giants have been doing quarterback roulette for two straight years, it’s because they have. Seven different starters since 2022. Seven. So when Jameis Winston inked a two-year, $8 million deal to join the QB room, it felt like progress.
Then came the Russell Wilson signing—one year, $10.5 million guaranteed, up to $21 million—to take this from patchwork to passable, maybe even frisky.
But it’s not just quarterback that got attention. General manager Joe Schoen went and fortified the secondary too, bringing in Paulson Adebo and Jevon Holland to finally give this defense some real teeth on the back end. With Brian Burns, Dexter Lawrence, and Kayvon Thibodeaux up front, the defense has juice. Suddenly, there’s structure. Identity. A reason to believe this team might actually function like a real football team in 2025.
And that’s the backdrop for Jameis Winston’s first presser as a New York Giant. A roster that’s better. A quarterback room that isn’t laughable. A head coach and GM duo with everything on the line. Enter Winston, who—without trying—delivered what might be the team’s most electric slogan of all time... accidentally.
Jameis Winston is already setting the tone in New York
Winston held his first media session since signing with Big Blue and didn’t need long to win fans over. He spoke highly of the roster. Praised the defense. Showed an actual understanding of what this team needs right now. And then he dropped a line that should be slapped on every locker, shirt, hoodie, and hype video from now until Week 1:
“So we can have more giggles, more laughter, more fun in this building. We’re in the biggest city in the world and we should enjoy that and I think winning does that.”
Jameis Winston wants to see the Giants win more games so they can have "more giggles, more laughter, and more fun"

There’s nothing fake about that quote. It didn’t feel like something Winston rehearsed. He wasn’t angling for headlines. That’s just Jameis being Jameis. Honest. Upbeat. Actually enjoying the opportunity to be here. There are few like him.
And make no mistake, it’s refreshing. Giants fans haven’t had much to laugh, giggle, or have fun about. Last year’s 3-14 trainwreck featured the second-fewest points per game in football and a quarterback room that ran out of gas before it left the parking lot. So if Winston’s mindset helps inject a little life back into the building—whether he’s starting or off the bench—that’s a massive win.
You could hear it in how he talked about the offense too. Malik Nabers, Wan’Dale Robinson, Theo Johnson, Jalin Hyatt—Winston’s already done the film work and sees the potential. He sees a group that can actually move the ball. And his optimism is objectively infectious. Can't help but buy into what he's selling.
There’s no telling how the reps will shake out. Wilson’s the starter for now, and the Giants are still flirting with drafting another quarterback. But what Winston brings is perspective. Energy. A little bit of joy in a building that desperately needs it.
“More giggles, more laughter, more fun.”
Honestly? That’s the best mission statement the Giants could ask for.
