Emotions are mixed after the New York Giants' 21-18 Week 4 victory over the Los Angeles Chargers, to say the least. On one hand, the club earned its inaugural win of the 2025 campaign in first-round rookie quarterback Jaxson Dart's first NFL start. Yet, conversely, doing so came at the expense of star wide receiver Malik Nabers.
Fear of Nabers reportedly suffering a torn ACL has dampened the mood of an otherwise exciting and shocking Giants upset defeat of the Chargers. However, some are ostensibly focusing on the positive rather than dwelling on the negative, namely, New York's backup signal-caller Jameis Winston.
The latter isn't letting Dart and his teammates' efforts go unnoticed, perfectly encapsulating the moment with an awesome and hilarious social media post.
Jameis Winston speaks for every Giants fan after Jaxson Dart leads Giants to win in first NFL start
Winston took to X (formerly known as Twitter) shortly after the G-Men took down the Chargers, and it's clear how thrilled he is. The 31-year-old shared a screenshot of his patented "eat a W" celebration with Dart following New York's preseason finale shellacking of the New England Patriots.
There's no better example of a picture being worth 1,000 words. Unfortunately, balancing the newfound optimism and buzz surrounding Dart with the crushing Nabers news is an internal battle that members of Big Blue Nation are facing. Nevertheless, Winston's reaction reminds us that the bad doesn't take away from the good.
The always high-spirited Winston's comedic enthusiasm should surely put a smile on Giants supporters' faces regardless of Nabers' injury. Boundlessly infectious energy is a massive reason why New York signed the former this past offseason, and he's ostensibly among Dart's biggest supporters. Genuine displays of camaraderie like this amid a time of uncertainty surrounding the franchise are relieving.
During his postgame interview, Dart discussed how beating the Chargers was "just the start of the journey." The competitor in him wants to continue stacking stones and understands he has a whole career ahead of him. Meanwhile, Winston is basking in the present, ensuring the young gunslinger gets recognition.
Dart deserves a ton. The circumstances were far from ideal for this year's No. 25 overall selection; his elite wideout early in a contest against a stiff defense. Regardless, the Giants prevailed, and Winston embodied how every fan feels right now.
