For the second time in three weeks, the New York Giants will renew their rivalry with an NFC East foe.
The G-Men are slated to take on the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday at Lincoln Financial Field after New York — decisively — pummeled one of their most hated rivals, 34-17, in East Rutherford.
Both teams are heading into this game with a bit of a bad taste in their mouths. Big Blue, in stunning fashion, blew a 19-0 lead in the fourth quarter to lose to the Denver Broncos by one point. Meanwhile, the Birds hope to avenge their own ugly loss to the Giants in Week 6 on Thursday Night Football.
With Jaxson Dart getting his first taste of a road divisional matchup, one veteran is offering him some perspective heading into a city that will be anything but kind to the rookie quarterback sensation.
Jaxson Dart gets reality check before first start in Philadelphia
Ahead of the 22-year-old's first game on the road in Philly, veteran wide receiver Darius Slayton was pretty blunt when asked to give advice to Dart about what to expect in what is poised to be a hostile environment:
"If he didn't have any haters, he's about to find where they all live."Darius Slayton
Philadelphia hasn't been an easy place for Big Blue to play in for quite some time. Entering this matchup, the G-Men have not won at Lincoln Financial Field since 2013 (yes, you read that correctly). That's not saying they haven't had their chances to win during said brutal stretch, as they have had a couple of games that ended in heartbreaking fashion.
A few instances were a last-second 61-yard field goal back in 2017, an overtime crushing defeat back in 2019 during Eli Manning's coming-out party, and when Evan Engram dropped an easy third-down pass back in 2020 that would've put the game on ice.
This won't be an easy test for the rookie, especially after he and the rest of the Giants are still struggling to process what happened last Sunday against the Broncos. But if there is an opportunity to get fans to forget one of the worst losses in league history, pulling off a stunner in Philly on Sunday would undoubtedly provide a jolt to this team and its frustrated fanbase.
