Jaxson Dart’s powerful postgame quote said everything about Giants’ future

Stats don't mind matter to Jaxson Dart.

For the third straight season, the New York Giants are 2-7 at the midway point of the regular season.

The G-Men dropped their third straight game on Sunday, losing to the San Francisco 49ers, 34-24, in what has become yet another miserable year for Big Blue. Despite jumping out to a quick 7-0 lead thanks to an opening-drive touchdown, New York couldn’t build off that momentum as the defense struggled again and the offense missed several golden opportunities in their first game without rookie running back Cam Skattebo.

If there was any silver lining in another dismal loss, rookie quarterback Jaxson Dart once again showed why he’s the franchise quarterback. The 22-year-old accounted for 247 total yards and had two passing touchdowns — plus one on the ground. But if you ask the rookie phenom about his performance, personal stats aren’t what matter to him.

Jaxson Dart delivers again, but he only cares about one thing

Dart met with reporters following Sunday’s loss to San Francisco and gave a pretty blunt response when asked how he thought he played.

""Don't matter, we lost""
Dart said.

Talk about being a team player. He didn’t seem to care at all about how well he played, even with limited offensive resources. This kid is hungry for a win, and I can’t say I blame him.

He entered the NFL unaccustomed to losing, having gone 29-10 in three seasons at Ole Miss, including two Bowl wins (the Peach and Gator Bowls). But after three straight losses, you can tell losing leaves a bad taste in his mouth — and rightfully so.

No. 6 deserves better. Despite a strong first season in the league, the Giants are still stuck in their losing ways with no end in sight. Things could look different next year when Dart gets Malik Nabers back (torn ACL) and the aforementioned Skattebo (gruesome ankle injury in Philly). Still, it’s obvious personal stats and individual accolades don’t matter to Jaxson Dart — he just wants to win.
