The New York Giants are gearing up for the 2026 NFL season, and while it was a productive offseason in which the team hired John Harbaugh and improved its roster through the NFL Draft and free agency, one position they did not need to address was quarterback.
After an impressive rookie campaign last year, Jaxson Dart has become a fan favorite and is here to stay as the team’s franchise quarterback. But like every young player, there’s always room for improvement and growth, and Big Blue fans are hoping the 23-year-old takes that leap in year two.
The Giants held their annual Town Hall event at the Beacon Theater on Monday night, where several players were in attendance, including Dart, Cam Skattebo, and Brian Burns, who took questions from the fans. The second-year quarterback was asked about what he learned in his rookie season and made a promise to the Big Blue fans ahead of this season.
Jaxson Dart knows how important it is to stay healthy ahead of Year 2
Dart is often criticized for not sliding on quarterback runs. In his first season with the G-Men, he frequently visited the blue medical tent on the Giants’ sideline and was in concussion protocol and missed time last year after suffering a concussion in Week 10 against the Bears.
Well, it seems like Dart learned his lesson from his rookie year because he told the fans and media in attendance at the Giants’ Town Hall event exactly what they wanted to hear, gassing them up in the best way p:
“The most important thing that I learned is I got to be on the field…But at the same time, if it’s 3rd down, 4th down, they're standing my way, I’m gonna go right through them.”
Safety first, of course. But still carnage... just a bit more controlled in Year 2.
If there’s one thing about Dart, it's that you can’t change his competitiveness. One reason Big Blue fans love him is his drive and love for the game, which Harbaugh even acknowledged back when he first took the job.
While all that is great, the thing that Giants fans should love the most is that Dart is aware of how concussions have affected him, that he is healthy, and understands how important it is to the team that he is on the field as much as possible next season... even if it comes at the expense of not running through linebackers for an extra yard.
Big Blue fans were robbed of a full, healthy season from Dart, Skattebo, and Malik Nabers, and with those three on the field, there's no telling what this Giants’ offense is capable of in 2026.
