Joe Burrow exposes NY Giants DC Shane Bowen on wild 47-yard TD to open SNF

How in the world did the Giants let this happen?

Another game, another disheartening start for the NY Giants? Yup, why not. Taking on the Cincinnati Bengals for some Sunday Night Football action, it sure looked like the Big Blue defense was going to get off the field following a sack by Brian Burns.

Surely 3rd-and-18 was a lock for the Giants defense to get a stop, right? Well, defensive coordinator Shane Bowen decided to apply heavy pressure on the left, but he basically left only a couple of guys on the other side to make a move.

Burrow saw this, as it was clear as day, and he took off. Next thing you knew, he was off to the races and after Azeez Ojulari dove and missed in trying to bring him down, the Cincy QB kept on sprinting and dove into the endzone. Just like that, it was 7-0 Cincy. Come on.

Joe Burrow started Sunday Night Football off with a bang for the Bengals

Bowen has called some strong games this year, but just what was he thinking here? There was a hole big enough for a semi truck to drive through for Burrow. The fact that this happened on 3rd-and-18 only made things worse.

The Giants entered this game as underdogs and an embarrassing start like this on defense is unacceptable. Safety Tyler Nubin also suffered a knee injury late on that Burrow run. You've got to be kidding.

The only positive from this Burrow run is that in both the Giants' wins this year, something wild has happened early on for them. In the victory over the Browns, Eric Gray fumbled the opening kickoff, setting up a Browns TD. Then in the win at Seattle, Gray fumbled at the one-inch line and the Seahawks took it back 101 yards for a score. Will this Burrow TD end up coming in a Big Blue W? We sure hope so.
