The NFL Draft really is a spectacle. Beyond just prospects finding new homes and teams getting retooled, it’s the mind games, misdirection, and controlled chaos that make it so compelling. What’s real? What’s noise? Who’s pushing what narrative to shift the board? It’s all part of the fun.
The New York Giants have been linked to several quarterback prospects in the 2025 NFL Draft, but one name has steadily gained traction in recent weeks: Jaxson Dart. Now, things have taken a slightly more curious turn.
On Wednesday, Carson Schoen—the son of Giants General Manager Joe Schoen—shared a highlight video of Dart on Instagram. The post was quickly taken down, and the account was set to private. Still, the post circulated on social media and added to growing speculation about the team’s draft plans.

This isn’t the first time Carson has found himself in the middle of pre-draft buzz. Last year, the younger Schoen gained attention during “Hard Knocks” when he told his father he would trade up to select Jayden Daniels. The Washington Commanders ultimately took Daniels, who went on to win Offensive Rookie of the Year and lead his team to the NFC Championship. Foreshadowing? Potentially.
Giants remain connected to Jaxson Dart as Draft Day arrives
With just hours to go until Round 1 of the NFL Draft, the Giants are in a unique position. They’re expected to select either Penn State edge rusher Abdul Carter or Colorado’s two-way star Travis Hunter with the No. 3 overall pick. But quarterback remains a looming question.
According to multiple reports, the G-Men have explored trading back into the first round, with Dart as the likely target. ESPN’s Peter Schrager projected New York would move up to take Dart late in Round 1. NFL Network’s Daniel Jeremiah did the same. Dianna Russini of The Athletic also reported the Giants are “ready for anything,” including a scenario where they bypass a quarterback at No. 3 and move back up later to take “their guy.”
Big Blue's current quarterback room includes veterans Russell Wilson and Jameis Winston, making it plausible that any rookie quarterback added this weekend could be given time to develop.
Dart certainly fits that mold. The Ole Miss standout is considered a project with upside, praised for his downfield accuracy and confidence in tight windows, but he’ll need to adjust to the speed and complexity of the NFL game. Pretty much like every other quarterback.
Whether the Giants ultimately land Dart remains to be seen. But if they do, don’t be surprised if Carson Schoen once again looks like he was ahead of the curve. Don’t be shocked if people start saying he’s the real GM in the family. One day, that might not sound like a joke at all.
