Head coach John Harbaugh spent most of his first offseason with the New York Giants turning East Rutherford into Baltimore North.
Ar’Darius Washington, Isaiah Likely, Daniel Faalele, Patrick Ricard, Jordan Stout, Odell Beckham Jr., Josh Tupou, and even C.J. Okoye have all followed their former Ravens coach to New York in one way or another since Harbs took over. Not all of them are still around, but the man clearly has a type.
And apparently, he wasn’t done adding to his collection. The G-Men are signing veteran linebacker Malik Harrison to their practice squad, according to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler, reuniting Harbaugh with, you guessed it, yet another player from his Baltimore days.
Fowler added that Harrison is joining the P-Squad with the goal of contributing early. Big Blue’s P-Squad was already at the 17-player maximum before the move, so someone will have to be dropped to make room. We’ll update this story once the corresponding move becomes clear.
John Harbaugh apparently isn’t done turning Giants into Baltimore North with Malik Harrison signing
The Ravens selected Harrison in the third round of the 2020 Draft out of Ohio State, and he spent the first five seasons of his career playing for Harbs in Baltimore.
Harrison never became a star with the Ravens, but he certainly found ways to stick around. The 28-year-old can play inside linebacker and move to the edge in certain packages, while also bringing plenty of special teams experience to North Jersey. And we all know how Harby feels about guys who are willing and able to muck it up in the third phase.
After five years together, Harrison left Charm City last offseason, signing a two-year, $10 million deal with the Pittsburgh Steelers. They say distance makes the heart grow fonder, and apparently, one year apart was enough.
Harrison appeared in 11 games for Pittsburgh in 2025 before the Steelers released him during roster cuts, opening the door for the 63-year-old to get one of his former players back.
Harrison brings 87 games and 43 starts worth of NFL experience to a Giants linebacker room that saw Darius Muasau, Caleb Murphy, Anfernee Orji, and Khalid Kareem leave during roster cuts. Trace Ford returned to the practice squad, and Harrison will now join him and Chandler Martin once New York makes room.
The fact Fowler specifically mentioned Harrison’s goal of contributing early makes this worth watching beyond the Harbaugh reunion jokes. There’s definitely a chance Giants fans will see him on Sundays sooner rather than later.
But for right now, he’s another former Raven headed to North Jersey, as one does when Harbs becomes head coach. At this point, Harbaugh might as well start checking whether Ray Lewis and/or Ed Reed have any eligibility left.
