Folks, we’ve officially made it through the offseason. It wasn’t easy, but after minicamps, OTAs, training camp, and preseason games, we’ve finally arrived at the August 30 deadline for roster cuts. And boy, do the New York Giants have their work cut out for them.
The Giants are fresh off a 23-6 thumping of the Jets in their preseason finale, which should give head coach John Harbaugh and general manager Joe Schoen plenty to think about as they shake the roster-cut tree to see what falls.
This is an unrecognizably talented roster -- shoutout to Harbaugh and Schoen for the teamwork. There are roster battles all over the 90-man offseason roster, and while the fight to make the final 53 has ended on the field, it’s only just begun behind closed doors.
Did Odell Beckham Jr. do enough to claim a receiver spot? Will any one of Darius Muasau, Zaire Barnes, Trace Ford, and Caleb Murphy steal a spot on the back end? Did Lucas Patrick fend off Bryan Hudson for the backup center spot? And what the hell is going to happen to Tyrone Tracy Jr. come Sunday?

Notable cuts
Evan Neal, OL
Where to even start with Evan Neal? Just when you thought he was going to be off the team earlier this offseason, Harbs brought him back on the most surprising deal of the offseason. The former left tackle-turned-right tackle-turned interior lineman just never figured out the size/speed combo of the NFL.
Chalk Neal up as one of the biggest "what-ifs" in Giants draft history. Injuries certainly played a role in his development, but the 25-year-old will go down as one of the biggest draft busts in team history. The new coaching staff is making it clear that draft status won't matter moving forward. As it should be -- the best players should make the roster only.
Jalin Hyatt, WR
What do you get when you rack up 36 receptions, 470 yards, and no touchdowns through three professional seasons? Apparently, waived. Hyatt's elite college production never translated to the NFL.
Big Blue traded up in the 2023 Draft to select him with the 73rd pick, but he never found a role. Entering the summer, he was more of a long shot for a roster spot than ever before. Now, the 24-year-old will look for a fresh start.
Braxton Berrios, WR
The G-Men are releasing Braxton Berrios, but are planning on bringing him back onto the roster for Week 1. Here's where a team can play around with their roster, since Berrios is a vested veteran and isn't subject to the waiver wire. They can bring him back on the active roster or elevate him from the P-squad. Roster gymnastics at its finest.
Dalen Cambre, WR/ST
Cambre was an undrafted free agent signing out of Louisiana-Lafayette last year. He had one of the strongest camps this offseason, but the Giants don't have much room for a developing wideout. He'll likely get a shot on another team, with the Cardinals and Packers feeling like obvious destinations due to prior coaching connections.
Leki Fotu, DL
Hand up, I had the 28-year-old making the Giants’ 53-man roster in my post-preseason projections, but he was included in the first wave of cuts on Saturday. Earlier in the day, the G-Men traded for Ravens defensive lineman C.J. Okoye, and perhaps that played a role in why they felt comfortable parting ways with the veteran lineman.
Expect more moves along the DL as the roster-cut tree continues to shake out.
Darius Muasau, LB
Taken with the 183rd pick in the 2024 Draft, Muasau has played in 27 games over the past two years, amassing 106 tackles and five tackles for loss. He's a strong special teams player, which could give him a chance to catch on with another team. He'll head to the waiver wire for now, with the chance to make it back to the practice squad if he goes unclaimed.
Potential roster-cut targets from around the league
Geno Stone, SAF
Do the Giants necessarily need another safety? No. But Harbaugh has been on a defensive-back collecting spree this offseason, and Stone was a seventh-round pick by the Ravens back in 2020, so it's hard not to see Harbaugh taking an interest. His play has fallen off since he left Baltimore in 2024, but no one likes a reunion more than Big Blue's head coach.
Adisa Isaac, EDGE
Would not needing a player at the position stop Harbaugh from reuniting with a former Ravens player? We’re about to find out.
Adisa Isaac was a third-round pick back in 2024 out of Penn State. Injuries have hampered the 6-foot-4, 248-pound pass rusher throughout his first two seasons in the league, but if there were ever a player Harbs might take a flier on, it would be Isaac.
After all, teams can never have too many young pass rushers.
McKinnley Jackson, DT
The Giants shouldn’t be done looking for help along the defensive line, and McKinnley Jackson feels like a player worth taking a flier on. The 6-foot-2, 330-pounder was a third-round pick by the Bengals in 2024 and is still just 24 years old.
Things obviously didn’t work out in Cincy, but Big Blue could use another body in the middle after completely overhauling the position this offseason. There’s enough youth and upside here to make giving Jackson a call a pretty easy decision.
