While the New York Giants' kicking unit tries to figure out what's up with kicker Ben Sauls' offseason case of the yips, Jordan Stout is quietly off to the side sending punts to the moon, keeping the other half of the specialist room completely stress-free. Stout is looking every bit of the All-Pro leg the Giants hoped he'd be after signing him to a market-setting, three-year, $12.3 million deal earlier in the offseason.
Stout followed new head coach John Harbaugh from Baltimore up I-95 to officially put an end to the Jamie Gillan experience. The Scottish Hammer's struggles reached a fever pitch in 2025, resulting in his release after three years as Big Blue's punter.
But let's not dwell on the past. With Harbs now running things, it's all about looking ahead.
And since the 63-year-old HC is an old-school special teams truther, looking ahead isn't just about getting excited about the offense or defense. No, the third phase is just as important, and the videos of Stout coming out of minicamp suggest the punting game is going to be one of New York's most unsung advantages in 2026.
Jordan Stout dominates Giants minicamp with booming punts
Field position is relatively unsexy, but it's a terribly important part of the game. Teams that start off with worse field position typically have a harder time scoring.
So watching Stout send punts into orbit at minicamp with his signature boomerang technique (he can influence the spin of the ball so that it curves or bounces the opposite direction of what returners are expecting), pinning the ball deep into the other zone, it was objectively awesome.
Just take a look for yourself:

The former Virginia Tech and Penn State star is coming off a rockstar 2025 campaign where he earned his first and only Pro Bowl and First-Team All-Pro honors. He led the league with an impressive 44.9-yard net punting average, while also adding a career-long 74-yard to boot -- literally.
Stout offers a refreshing change of pace to a fanbase that watched Gillan fall apart in real time with poor situational punting and frequent shanks. The 28-year-old finished third-to-last in gross average punting yards (44.5) and fourth-to-last in net punting average (38.0).
The era of holding your breath on fourth down looks to be officially over. In Stout, the Giants secured a field-flipping cheat code that gives New York's defense a big advantage. If his minicamp reps are any indication, his record-setting $12.3 million deal will look like an absolute steal.
