That's what I'm talking a(Stout).

And just like that, as soon as the New York Giants agreed to terms with one former Baltimore Raven, the floodgates opened. At this rate it’s fair to wonder how many of John Harbaugh’s old guys are about to follow Isaiah Likely up I-95.

According to Jordan Schultz, the G-Men are dipping back into the Baltimore well again, this time signing punter Jordan Stout to a massive three-year, $12.3 million deal:

Did someone say reset the market? The 27-year-old now becomes the highest-paid punter in the league, launching moonshots for the only head coach he’s played for in the NFL.

Giants pay Jordan Stout big-time money to fix their punter problem

For a team that struggled badly in just about every special teams facet over the past couple of years, this move actually makes a lot of sense. Jamie Gillan simply wasn’t getting the job done, finishing near the bottom of the league in several punting stats in 2025.

And it didn't take long for Big Blue to move on from Gillan, cutting the Scottish Hammer nearly simultaneously, as reported by NFL insider Tom Pelissero. The cap savings are essentially none, but his release was strictly performance-based anyway.

Stout is basically the opposite of Gillan. He’s coming off a monster season in Baltimore, where he averaged over 50 yards per punt and led the league with a 44.9 net average. It's no surprise he was a first-team All-Pro last year. The guy flips the field like it's his job, which is weird because it is his job. Harby's always been a special teams guy, so getting ahead of the infuriating self-inflicting issues was smart.

And the fans will thank them for doing so. Banging our heads against the wall and complaining on Twitter wasn't getting much results.

The connection between coach and player also matters here. Harbaugh coached Stout for four seasons with the Ravens and clearly trusts him, which probably made this decision easier when the Giants started looking for ways to upgrade special teams.

It's an expensive deal. Resetting the market for a punter is a choice. But if Stout punts the way he did last season, this could quietly end up being one of the most impactful under-the-radar moves they make all offseason.
