The New York Giants and their fans are still riding the high of quietly coming away as the biggest winners of an unreal first day of the 2026 NFL Draft, but the party is just getting started.
After the Giants came away with Ohio State linebacker Arvell Reese at No. 5 -- FanSided’s No. 1 overall prospect -- it was time to lock down Jaxson Dart’s security detail with their next pick at 10, which they did by selecting maniacal offensive lineman Francis “Sisi” Mauigoa out of Miami.
Sisi wasted no time sending a message to Dart after being drafted, telling his new quarterback that he would die for him. It goes without saying I wish no death on the 6-foot-6, 330-pound steamroller, but give me all the smoke. I cannot wait to watch him annihilate defenders into other universes with his ox-like strength and mountain-sized frame.
Round 1 went about as well as it possibly could have for Big Blue, and that might be the understatement of the century. But those who know Mauigoa best will only have Big Blue Nation feeling even better about their new offensive chaos agent.
Giants fans will love what Miami Hurricana expert said about Francis Mauigoa
Patrick Preverty of Canes Warning will have Giants fans itching for a Week 1 fix with his analysis of Mauigoa, suggesting he’s about as real a deal as you’ll find on Groupon (in the best way), putting any doubts about his back to rest:
"Mauigoa is a plug-and-play right tackle and one of the “sure-things” in the 2026 NFL draft. He has been an iron man at right tackle and should be selected in the top 10. Every way you slice it, Mauigoa is the real deal. Also, his extra testing on a back issue came back clear, so he's all set to be selected at the top of the first round."
Mauigoa is indeed a tackle, but he’ll likely be asked to slide inside at the vacant right guard spot currently occupied by Daniel Faalele or Evan Neal. Thankfully, we won’t have to watch that camp battle. Not all heroes wear capes.
Jermaine Eluemunor will be in his way for the foreseeable future at right tackle, but maybe Sisi becomes an All-Pro-caliber guard, and no one cares that he was ever supposed to kick back out. Or maybe he does end up back outside, becoming the “road paver” he was born to be at tackle. Either way, the Giants had a clear need and desire to upgrade the line, and they did exactly that.
And if he’s truly a “plug-and-play” guy and one of the “sure things” in this class, this is going to be awesome.
